New Paltz and the surrounding communities share a rich history and legacy from the indigenous Munsee Lenape Indians and early settlements by the French Huguenots.  Families constructed houses derived from designs handed down for generations.  Many of the wonderful structures still stand today as a testament to the creativity, ingenuity and skill of these fine craftsman.
